I have this little video of a working, full-size car made of Legos accidentally placed in the wrong folder. I tried to move it, and File Explorer starts the little moving animation, but never actually moves the file. Ever. The animation will play until I shut the computer off. I can't delete the file, either. I can't move or delete the folder the file is in! WTF?

I tried a DOS command from CMD.EXE, but that doesn't work, either.

I'm not getting any error messages. Windows 7 just won't touch the file. I can't even drag it to VLC. The video plays in WMP if I double-click it, so, yeah, it's a working video file.

This is my home PC. I'm the only user and Administrator.

Is there a 3rd party answer or any other idea out there?

I think I had the same thing happen to me, but it was a passing glitch, maybe a restart fixed it, I can't remember for sure. Anyways, Piriform has a file unlocker utility, you could try using that, although it's not spitting any errors or anything, weird.

They do?

Are you thinking of Unlocker?

You could also try the Recovery Environment and do an rmdir /S /Q on it (though this is for directories...)

No, no errors.

I noticed I can't bring up file properties for it, either.

The file is called:

Life Size Lego Car Powered by Air (3D HD)

Here it is on YouTube:

From the command prompt, I tried rmdir "blah blah blah" /s /q, but that just hangs, too—same as File Manager, same as when I tried the del command.

I just tried deleting it while in Safe Mode, but got a message that the file was in use by another program. No idea what that program could be.

OK, I just downloaded and installed Unlocker (without installing that Delta toolbar, too!). Unlocker deleted the affected file and directory for me.

Thanks for the link.

You are welcome. I should have suggested adding "Take Ownership" to your Explorer and first seeing if that allowed you access (so you would not have to delete it if you didn't want to). And if that didn't work, then use Unlocker.

Still a good idea to have both present on your PC.
