With astronauts looking forward to a couple+ years round trip journey to the planet Mars, what would be the best most reliable form of storage to load up all of the movies, music, games and books they'll need for the trip there if they had to launch now?
I actually came up with the idea a while ago of trying to store a big chunk of the Internet on a mass of storage drives for them. (Will storage be dense enough by the time they launch?) Then, using algorithms (algorithms can do anything, right?), their "local Internet" would be continuously updated by a secondary antenna system dedicated solely for that purpose. What better way to pass the down time on the trip to Mars than surfing the Net?
