Has anyone purchased this product (here in the US)? If so, is it actually legal for you to use it in the US to backup Blu-ray and DVD videos you own? (To be played on an HTPC in your house, for example.)

I purchased it years ago and have been very happy with it. they are based outside the US so you decide about the legality yourself. They update frequently and address any issues quickly. Video quality is excellent.

Regarding videos, it's legal in the US to make backups for personal use and that you're the one who made the backup. i.e., it's still illegal to torrent a movie even if you already own it because 1. you didn't make the backup and 2. you obtained it from an unauthorized source.

No, my goal was to rip DVDs and Blu-Rays that I already own simply because I hate using discs (that and I can play it anywhere in my house if it's on my server).
I figured AnyDVD is a good program (MaxPC has given it pretty good reviews over the years from what I've read). just wanted some reassurance before I got spend $60.

I've used this software for five years, and have backed up my (formerly) 1,000+ DVDs and recently 50+ Blu-Rays. They are legit, it is great software, and definitely get the Lifetime membership.

All actions taken with it, at least in the US, are legal as long as you're backing up your own stuff and not distributing it. Now, I have 3+ TBs sitting on a redundant media server so the next time I move, I just have to unplug a tiny box and take my home theater with me, instead of BOXES AND BOXES of DVDs and Blu-Rays that can end up scratched and unusable.

I haven't been able to get it to back up my Blu-Rays. Is it that I'm still using CloneDVD?
