I bought a wd my net 750n on newegg, because it was ridiculously cheap at ($30) and figured oh what the hey, ill try that for a wireless AP solution. wrong! not only does it not do wireless AP, cannot load dd wrt or tomato firmware on it.
so, returned that, for just a mere $15, rma fee, restocking fee, packaging materials fee, frustration fee, letdown fee, etc, etc.
ok, went to target, and they got the netgear wnr2000. I thought cool, Ill get that! Got home and set it up, and found that I cant setup wireless AP unless I use no wireless security. Cant use WPA2 or any type of wireless encryption. It basically is an open hotspot. I cant have it function like that in this location, there are too many neighbors. So this option isnt looking good. Went to tomato, nope, cant load that. Went to dd wrt, and only the wnr2000v2 and v3 are supported. What I got at target is a wrn2000v4! Blah.
Ok, so now what? I want a secure
wireless AP solution dammit! lol. I would like to not have to do a wired to wireless AP solution if I can help it.
Anyone have any ideas?
Seems like the only solution is to wire them together using patch cable, from what I can tell, and then I can have a secure second wireless AP.
