No, I'm not viewing the files in a library, I'm looking at them in C:\Windows\Users\myusername\documents. Folder size isn't displayed the size column. I can view the size by rmb > Properties, but it has to calculate the size every time. Free Commander refuses to sort folders by size. I can use Folder Size 2.9.0.0 to scan the drive, and there's probably a bunch of other third party applications that can do it. But still. This is like Windows usage 101.

So... what's the question? Well the reason why it doesn't do folder sizing is because if you were at the root directory of the hard drive, you'd have massive amounts of I/O work to calculate everything, for information that isn't quite that useful to be honest.

If you were looking for what's taking up your space, a program like WinDirStat is very useful here.

I already mentioned Folder Size, yes, that's the one I'm referring to; windirstat does the same thing except it's open source and has more details when displaying files that Folder Size would normally display only as "other". I was using the information to decide which folder in the 2TB drive I should start sorting through first, but went with a different strategy of setting a headquarters folder and copying files into it.
