Hey everyone :)

I'm trying to build my very first PC. One thing I am having trouble with is how to get the right case fans.

I am buying the Fractal Design Define R4 case: http://www.fractal-design.com/home/prod ... lack-pearl

I'm not sure which size fans I should buy, nor how many fans I should buy. It appears like the R4 comes stock with 2 fans (one for front, one for rear), is this correct? Should I buy more fans?

I won't be overclocking, I'll be running Intel integrated graphics, 1 SSD, 3 HDD, 1 Optical drive, 16GB ram, Intel 4770 CPU.

Would appreciate any feedback on how best to proceed with the fan situation.

If that is all you are planning on putting in your case and you aren't overclocking, there shouldn't be a need for additional fans in the case itself.

Should I buy more fans?...

I agree with trl288, you don't need anymore fans other than the ones that come with the case.

From your link:

Front: 1 - 120/140mm fan (included is a hydraulic bearing 140mm Silent Series R2 fan, 1000 RPM speed; 1 - 120/140mm fan (not included)

Rear: 1 - 120/140mm fan (included is a hydraulic bearing 140mm Silent Series R2 fan, 1000 RPM speed)

Top: 2 - 120/140mm fans (not included) - positions also support some models of 240 radiators, depending on configuration

Bottom: 1 - 120/140mm fan (not included)

Side: 1 - 120/140mm fan (not included)

Fan controller: 1 - Integrated fan controller for up to 3 fans (included)

I count five unoccupied fan positions. Two occupied ones: One up front to pull cool air in over your hard drive and the other to exhaust rising hot air out the back of the case.

So the case does come with two fans (front & rear)? Or do I need to buy these?

Thanks a lot guys!

from the specs:

"7 - fan positions (2 Silent Series R2 fans included)"

So it comes with 2 fans, front and back
