Okay geeks, here's another new version of my log in not working.
Last week my log in stopped working, again. So I did what I have always had to do in the past. Try to log in and then click on the 'lost password' link to get the email that would let me log in and then change my password.
In the past I always changed it to the password I had always been using previously and had no problems after resetting it to that password. I could use IE or FF and the log in name/password would work.
Now that doesn't happen.
If I do the password reset using FF, I can log in with FF but not with IE. Even though I am trying to use the same name and password.

Someone figure that one out.

OK, I tried to log into both browsers running at the same time and saved the password in each and it works. Do you have a gremlin running amuck in your system? Try running Malwarebytes and see if it catches anything. Did you save your password in each browser?

Nasty

I've run MalwareBytes, Avast!, SpyBot Search and Destroy and SuperAntiSpyware. Nothing. Clean machine.

EDIT: I should add that nothing was found other than the usual cookies. No virii, worms, trojans, etc. just cookies.

The vast majority of lost log ins were in Win 7. I now have Win 8 and have had the lost log in before. The email reset worked before but not this last time.

Anybody want to guess which sites main page I can't log in to again?
Anyone?
Anyone?
Bueller?

I go to the main page and I am not auto logged in. I put in my info and don't get logged in.
"Sorry, unrecognized username or password. Have you forgotten your password?"

Yeah, right. This is getting pretty damned lame.
I can log in to the forum obviously since I'm posting here. Just not the main page.

Clean up your browser of everything. i.e., go to your history settings and tell them to delete everything.

Cleared history and cache. But it is only a matter of time before this happens again.
The loss of main page log in info has been an ongoing thing for years.
Earlier this year I was sending pm's to Jimmy Thang every time it got lost. He got tired of hearing from me.

This doesn't sound like a local machine problem but rather a database issues on the MPC side. Unfortunately, to troubleshoot we would need someone to look at the logs on the their side while you try to login. I'm betting you are not the only one having problems.

Another thing to try would be to press Ctrl+F5 when this happens. This should bypass your cache when refreshing the page.

I get issues like this from time to time on both the main page and forums, what I have found is that for what ever reason the site cookie gets damaged/corrupt, I just delete the cookie and reattempt log in and it works till it gets borked again.

Can you point out which specific cookie it is? That way I only have to banish that one.
