A friend asked me if I could look at his computer because I wasn't working. Its an HP Pavilion Slimline S3700F Desktop PC. I checked it out and it seems that the HD is bad. My question is this, when I out a new HD in it, its going to ask for the Boot or System discs that came with this computer. He doesn't have them. What are my options for trying to get this thing running?

Thanks
Suzie

you can either call hp and order replacement OS disks, or if you have a new copy of windows with a key, you can install that on the new hd.

A 3rd alternative is to download a 32-bit Vista DVD ISO file and image burn it to a DVD. Then use the product key found on the case to install the OS, if it came with 32bit Vista HP.

If it came with XP Media Center then someone with an OEM disk set can either let you borrow it or make an image burn of the disks for you.

HP online support

If you prefer ordering the recovery disks as mentioned above.
