I currently have a Western Digital 1TB internal drive that was installed as an extra storage drive in a desktop (Win7 x64).
Long story short, all I have access to is a laptop (WinXP) at the moment. I used a Rosewill SATA/USB adapter to connect the drive try to pull off a few files that were on there and got the message "The disk in drive XYZ is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?"
The drive was working perfectly fine when removed from the old PC and the adapter worked fine for the SSD that I also plugged in.
I assume there is software that can recover all/most of the files on the drive, but I want to make sure I'm not overlooking something stupid/basic before I go that route.
