First I apologise if this is the wrong section, I know this question isn't strictly related to building.

I am really looking to upgrade from my 22inch 1920x1080 monitor but I'm having trouble deciding on what the best one would be, my main interest is for gaming purposes but I also do a fair amount of work on my PC.

Can anyone recommend a good starting point? Any help would be very much appreciated.

It would depend on a few things. Budget and intended use would be the big two. What are you looking to spend, and what do you primarily use it for? If it's gaming that's one thing, but if you require color accuracy that could change things...

Budget wise somewhere in the £450-£500 range would be ideal, the main thing I want it for is gaming but it be my main monitor for everything else I do on my PC.

I would second the ASUS PB278Q, but would advise to steer away from the Dell, they seem to be having tons of Quality Assurance issues from their manufacturer on the new series (Uxx13) of monitors. Problems include mild to severe back-light bleeding (worse than other IPS panels), random color shift, loss of input signal, lines/cross-hatch patterns on screen. These seem especially prevalent with the U3013, but am seeing some of the same issues reported online for the U2713HM.

Oh, I forgot to mention OP. If you feel like taking a gamble and don't care about features, you can try getting one of the many cheaper panels like the Yamakasi Catleap or whatnot.
