Hey guys,

I will be building my new rig this weekend and I am not sure what exactly to install as far as OS goes. Since I am a student, I can get Windows 8 free for 2 years with my dreamspark account. However, I am deciding on whether its better I install Windows 8 or the 8.1 preview first?

I will eventually be upgrading to 8.1 once its released in October, but I am not sure what would be the best route now. I am referring to terms of upgradeability once the final version is released. Will 8.1 final easily be installed over the 8.1 preview? Or will it be easier to install 8.1 final over 8?

Thanks again for all your help!

If everything in the 8.1 version was finished and stable they wouldn't be putting the release date out to where it is. There's always last minute tweaks to updates.
I would install 8 and wait to install 8.1 after the official release.

Also the preview version will expire once it's released anyway so you're just going to have to get a new OS anyway.
