Was it my imagination, or did the August issue claim that Intel launched their "740" graphics chip in ...1990?

I coulda swore I was much older at the time.

On page 46 it states that Intel put the i740 on the market in "late 1990".

Best I recall, it was more like 1998. Interesting that the issue promoting itself as a pathway to expertise would impart such a blunder on it's "students"...

Is there an s after 1990?

If not, you've found a typo. Congrats!

If so, feel free to make this face:

Well, based upon your response, It appears safe to say that you have not seen the actual in-print edition. So, while your opinion makes an interesting theory, it still is no more than an opinion.

My bet is that it's a bad edit. Because for it to just be a typo, as you imply, the word "the" should have preceded "late 1990". so this one's ---> 4 u

It's all cool!!! ....still, it's just as possible that who ever the author was, didn't know for sure, and published without fact checking.

Either way, I have to believe that Brad Dosland would have NEVER let that one slip through ..

Hero worship aside, Boot had its share of typos and errata. Every publication does. ;)

Sure, yet context certainly IS a factor here. I mean after all, we have the PC enthusiast's ULTIMATE monthly publication, running not just in an article, but in the issue promoting itself as the guide to expertise no less....and then pulling a mis-statement like that.

I mean that is a ground shaker of nearly the same magnitude as if a Republican misquoted the second amendment.
