I am just entering the field. I will be receiving a technical certification in computer info tech with a concentration in PC Support and Administration.
Is this a good path to start? And what type of math will I need to know? And what type of business would be a good idea to begin my career? I'm looking for something more than the Geek Squad at BB, sorry don't mean to offend. Unless that is a good choice to start, does anyone know what the starting wage is there? Any suggestions? TY all very much.

Last time i used any higher level math with computers was when I took analysis of algorithms in college to see if the coded algorithm was efficient or not. I started at BB with geeksquad (no worries, :) no offense taken). When I started, I was in my 20s and already had my electronic technician certification and certification as an electronics assembler and they started me at $11.50/hr in chicago (bonus to that is after a year of full time they reimburse you for tuition if you are still in school). Is that the best place to start? not necessarily, but it gave me a few years of experience and they didnt mind me not really having much at the time. If you can find a helpdesk job or a jr system administrator, those would be good places to start. without much experience it might be harder for the sysadmin jobs but i would apply anyway. just going to the interviews and hearing the questions they ask will give you a good idea of what you should be studying if you want that type of job. I would stay away from supporting stock traders if you can, if its during trading hours and they have any type of technology issue, those guys can be real @$$hats.
