I've been using my laptop on my desk alot recently. I do my homework, play some games, surf online. I'm starting to feel that the setup is not so great for my elbows and wrists. I have the laptop in front of me but its at the other end. I need space directly in front of me to read papers and take notes.

I think I can close up my laptop and place it on my desk shelf. Hook up a monitor (something cheap), keyboard and mouse, speakers. The only problem I can't seem to figure out is turning it on if it's closed. Now that I think about it, it's usually in sleep mode. I rarely turn it off fully.

Looks like I answered one of my questions. Second question is if there is some sort of monitor attachment that will clamp the the edge of the desk and give me maximum desk space?

Anyone else do something like this, add the monitor and keyboard to a laptop and then hide the laptop?

Thanks

There's plenty of monitor mounts out there, but the problem is you need a sturdy desk, and usually you'll have to modify it (i.e., do your own drilling/screwing).

Which one is that? The ones on the egg seem more expensive. I think there might be some better deals on amazon

How does this one look?

My concern is that there are already screws where the arm should be mounted.

Are the monitor mount holes all standard size?
