I know. . .old hardware. . .BUT I built this system in 2007 from a "budget build" article in Maximum PC . . .long story short, a graphics card upgrade here, more RAM there, recent SSD install, Win7 clean install. . .the machine still rocks for what I do!
Past few months been getting "hard drive not found" error. . .seems to only happen when I move the PC! Tried different cables, different HD's, disconnected everything but the HD, etc. . .still intermittent. . .sometimes it boots, sometimes it doesn't so I'm figuring the motherboard is the next item to replace.
I'd like to find a relatively inexpensive ($60?) LGA775 motherboard that I can plug my current Intel E6400 2.13G into along with my current 4GB of DDR2 Ram, Nvidia graphics board, etc. to just get back to where I was. Been working mostly from my i7 Laptop with external monitor and keyboard and suprisingly enough, it's not as bad as I thought but still would rather be working on my desktop. . it's speedier than the laptop plus I can have all my other drives, etc. ,etc.
The current Mboard is an MSI P965 Platinum. . . any recommendations on a similar or better antique motherboard that I can drop in with minimal other complications?
Thanks in advance!
