Sorry if this is not quite "PC" but.....I would like to take my 42" HDTV that is getting replaced with a 51" HDTV and hang it on the wall like a painting. Insert a USB stick and have it cycle thru the pics loaded on it but have no idea how to start. It's just a tv. Do I need a program to run on the USB Stick? Has anyone done anything like this before??

It's a Father's Day gift so it means a lot and I would really appreciate any/all help I can get.

Have you looked into the android-on-a-stick option? Or Raspberry Pi? I think you can load up a slideshow program on them and hook it up to your tv.

If it's a smart TV, it usually has a picture slide show application. If this is a more permanent thing, then yes, a Raspberry Pi would work.

Thanks for replies. It's a 4+ year old HDTV so I think it just has the basics. What I want would probably rely on a program running on the USB stick.

Optimally, I wanna hang my 42" HDTV up so he can just plug a USB stick into it and let it slide show thru all his favorite pics.

I went thru the HDTV's menu and such, wasn't much there as far as photo sharing. Gonna need help as in a program on the stick to do the slide show. Thanks.

There's a question of what that USB on the TV is even used for. If it's a service port, I hope you can find someone who did all the hacking for you. If the TV even has a USB port. Otherwise you will have to get something like a set top box or Raspberry Pi or something to do this for you.

Dr. Lat you are correct. Only USB is a service USB. I guess I need something I can plug into the HDMI ports that will run the slide show. Anything like that out there? Gotta go to work.

I remembered I have an old netbook that I haven't used in years which has a VGA port and so does the tv. I can easily run a slide show program on the netbook, it will be perfect. A 42" wall mural.
