Ok so for the longest time i have been rocking a old wallmart vizio soundbar paired with a POLK audio sub purchased on newegg and recommended from you badasses..

The sub dominates and i do not forsee a need to upgrade anytime soon. However my speaker bar is becoming an issue when playing back Blueray movies in a player like Powerdvd

Turns out that my speaker bar does not recognize the codec or something and shuts itself down.

SO this summer sometime i plan to purchase a 200-500 dollar speaker bar that has a sub out for my awesome polk sub

TLDR: I need a great speaker bar that ships without a sub so i can hook the new speaker bar into my awsome sub.

Chances are you should just get a receiver and bookshelf speakers at this point. A lot of sound bars either don't have subwoofer options, use a proprietary connector, or are wireless.

I personally use a Harman Kardon stereo receiver with a pair of Klipsch BA-10B bookshelfs with a powered sub.....this is connected to a PC, makes any and I mean ANY (including the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1) computer speaker/sound bar look foolish and it sounds awesome, sure it requires an analog output from the PC but with a decent sound card (check) decent interconnects (check) it'll rock your world and not require some silly codec impeding sound bar.

If your not concerned with surround, my first choice and would be within budget, Corsair SP2500 2.1 speaker system, pounds like a mofo and sounds really nice.

The other alternative, would be receiver/speakers/sub but then it does start to get pricey at that point.
