Allo;

Putting a TITAN through it's paces and every time I attempt to run Heaven on DX11 the graphics freeze on the dragon wireframe loading screen. The music tells me it's loaded and hitting the F9 (Benchmark) resets the music indicating that something is still working. GPU is pinned to 100% even though the screen shows nothing. Alt-Tab does nothing (*can* alt-tab bit it doesn't fix/change anything).

Driver is 314.22

Any thoughts? Have I got a lemon?

Cheers!

Did you try other DirectX 11 programs/games?

reinstall 314.2 had no effect

install 320 had no effect

reinstall Heaven after installing 320 had no effect.

For DX11 games I tried Hawx and Metro 2033.

Hawx has issues but it seems to be both in DX9 and DX11 mode. LAN and online play wont connect even though I'm hosting a private match and am the only player. The performance testing ran only once in both DX11 and DX9 mode after a complete reboot. All other times it would go through loading then immediately report an average of 0 FPS.

Metro seemed to run ok.

I do think I will have to reinstall the OS and then test again

Run NVIDIA's tech demos and DirectX 11 samples. In particular, the Supersonic Sled demo, because it's also a PhysX demo. NVIDIA might have other PhysX demos too, but the overall point is that it also tests the compute pipeline. If there's any issue with running these, then return the card.

Or if the card is still within its 30 day return policy, I'd probably just return it anyway. Claim it as defective. It really depends on how willing you are to test it. :P

Reinstalling the KB2670838 (uninstalling first then a fresh install of it with reboots inbetween) had no effect.

I downloaded the Nvidia tech demos and the terrain tech demo did run, but upon conclusion it gave me this error:

The Direct3D device has a non-zero reference count, meaning some objects were not released.

The Stone Giant demo did run properly

I'd honestly say RMA it at this point.

just finished the re-install of the OS and once I installed the C++ redistributables it finally worked.

I'm going to test some more and make sure because I'm still not 100% comfortable. When I ran the Heaven this time there was a large block of purple lines flashed for a second in the top right of the screen (rest was black). All was good when the wireframe dragon came up with LOADING underneath.

Benchmark went fine (I didn't run it all the way through, but 10/26)

Thank you for your input and help. I'm going to keep testing and will see if there is anything else that might indicated something more serious at play.

I would call the video card vendor and tell them about the purple lines you saw and the card locking up. I am willing to bet they will send you an RMA number and give you a new card.
