I was reading the Maximum PC article about the upcoming MSI Z87 Motherboard and it stated "Like the XPower motherboard, it would be powered by two 8-Pin EPS connectors". What are EPS connectors? Will I need a new power supply to power the Z87 Motherboards? I have an OCZ 750 watter that I bought a little while back and I'd like to use it on my next build.

You know those plugs you put in next to the CPU? That's an EPS plug (as long as it's the 8-pin version... which most motherboards use)

Though I see it says it requires two. Those bastards. That will require a new PSU. You only get 1 4+4 EPS plug

Oh geez, that sucks. I had configured my rig to around $1000, now I gotta trim some fat or save up some more money to add a PSU to it, lol. Do you think ALL Z87 Motherboards will require 2 EPS plugs or just the MSI one?

I'm pretty sure all the motherboard manufacturing companies are showing off their flagship $200+ products. And chances are it's only MSI's. I'd wait until the products actually come out before making any decisions.

knowing that no power supply has two 8 pin connectors, it seems like they would include an adapter for the second one.

Ah, should've looked this up. Apparently there's a few power supplies that do have 2x 8-pin EPS connectors (http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/po ... n-eps.html), Corsair AX750 being one of them.

Although in reality, most computers don't need the whole 8 pins.
