Before I start buying a second and third monitor for a three way setup with Eyefinity is there anything I should know that isn't obvious or in the manual?

I have an XFX 7870 by the way.

One thing that I am wondering is can you cheap out on the two side monitors since they are primarily for peripheral viewing.

How much of a performance hit should I expect compared to only one monitor?

Any help is appreciated.

If this is for video games, then a 7870 is ill equipped for such a task unless you don't mind toning down the resolution and/or quality. But if you're just using it for having more desktop real estate, it doesn't matter. 2D stuff is cakewalk for a GPU these days.

It looks like it's capable at least.

Bioshock Infinite Benchmark on a 7870 @ 5760X1200 getting 30 fps average.

Well, the resolution shouldn't be a problem then! The question is the quality, which the video does not provide. Most 2-3+ year old games should also be fine regardless.

I think I'm just confused with where AMD's tier level is supposed to be. AMD and NVIDIA used to use the same system but then suddenly, AMD's x800 chips were midrange suddenly.
