I bought it operational. Those drivers would have already been installed

Was it assembled for you or bought pre-assembled at a store?
If assembled for you then we need to know all the components that went in to the build. We might find an incompatibility. If not then we will at least have the components listed so we can have an idea of what we're working with.
If it was bought at a store, take it back to the store. Let them know it is defective and tell them what is happening with it. They should repair or replace it.

I bought someone else's build, so no help there.

I just popped in the motherboard cd and found out what the unknown device was. I am not sure why it was restarting though. I have trouble finding proper updates for graphics card etc.

windows 8 pro
64 bit
i7-3770 LGA1155
ASARock 277 Extreme 4
MSI R7950 3G GDDR5
ST31000524AS
OCZ-VERTEX3
8.0 GB Ram DDR3 Patriot

That motherboard supports DDR3.
As for finding drivers, try a free download called Slimdrivers.
You will find it here: http://driverupdate.net/index_lp.php?gi ... limDrivers

If you use SlimDrivers, use caution! SlimDrivers (like every other driver update software, paid or free) tends to suggest drivers that may leave certain devices non-fuctional. I tried SlimDrivers on both a Toshiba laptop and a custom-built computer (which I built myself) and found it to be deficient and error-prone when it came to driver updates for the hardware. Just FYI.

BTW, what was the "unknown device" in your system?

I had slimdrivers installed before, so it got deleted in a windows refresh I did. I just reinstalled and installed 14 updates that look like they will be handy.

The unknown device turned out to be on the motherboard cd as suggested. I think it was AS rock smart connect. Something ACPI was also mentioned. Computer hasn't restarted on its own yet but it has gone a couple days before.

Here is what happened. Doesn't relate to computer restart than.http://www.asrock.com/support/QA/TSDQA-97.pdf

It just restarted again....

Maybe I shouldnt have reinstalled slim drivers. or maybe its a component issue or wire short. Any suggestion on steps to take now?

In reliability history i get this;

Driver Management concluded the process to install driver NULL Driver for Device Instance ID ACPI\INT33A0\0 with the following status: 0xE0000203.

the reliability is going down each time, does this mean my hardware is getting destroyed?

Try disabling Intel Smart Connect in the UEFI setup; if it is disabled, try enabling it. It is some ACPI device, and a search brought up this suggestion. It is in the Advanced section of the Setup.

I often install drivers from a downloaded file... Driver CD's are notorious for errors.

Hope it helps.

I just finished a bios update. Very scary but successful I think. My BIOS was 2.10 now its 2.80.

If it crashes again I shall try smart connect disable but maybe it was fixed in BIOS. Or is Smart Connect useful at all?

Near as I can tell, it is for updaing and synching email and other messages while your computer is in sleep or standby mode... Really not too critical, and it sometimes takes a year or two to work bugs out of new features, so I wouldn't think it's a must-have.

Hopefully, your update fixed it.

Cheers!

Unfortunately it did not fix my problem.

I did update my GPU BIOS.

Does this mean reinstallation of windows needed?

I just tapped the side of the tower and it restarted. Must be wiring.

I found two loose wire connections....

One was power supply into motherboard not fully in. Its also missing a pin and wire for that pin but I'm guessing thats ok.

One connection to the Harddrive was loose.

Wire connecting was done like a bird's nest.

I was also wondering if power supply is upside down and if that can be an issue,
Label on back is upside down. on side its right side up. Coils are attacked to a board that is on top.

Thanks for all support here. Hopefully reading MaximumPC mag will improve my skills on issues like these.

Any further advice would be greatly appreciated. Lets hope it doesn't restart on it's own

Just so you know, you need not worry about the orientation of the PSU in the case as there is only one way that it can be installed in the computer case. As for the main power connector missing a pin and its wire, that is normal as well. Just FYI.
