Is there any kind of log I can access that could tell me if anyone logged on while I was away? Well, my pc is off when I am not home.

I doubt this is what you're looking for, but it's a start.

You can even check Event Viewer to see if the machine was started and run in your absence.

^ Yes. Event viewer is all you need. Paranoid are ya!? Or have you been listening to Grace for Drowning by Steven Wilson again?

1. Open Event Viewer by clicking the Start button
2. Click Control Panel
3. Click System and Security
4. Click Administrative Tools
5. Double-clicking Event Viewer.‌ If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Viola.

You must understand that the real paranoia shouldn't be someone logging on on your machine while you're away, it's when your present and on yourself.

First time ever using Event Viewer. Can I please get a 1-2-3 on where I need to go to get the info I need? Primarily if anyone has been on my pc while I've been away.

Just look at the system logs and see if the computer was on any time you were away, bearing in mind that if you put the computer to sleep, it occasionally wakes up to do something.

Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer.
In the window that opens, on the left side click the "+" at Windows Logs, then click System or Application.
In the column marked "Source", scroll and look for "Winlogon". The time and date "Winlogon" appears tells roughly when your machine was started.

So OK I'll bite. How do I find out who has been or is on my computer while I am present and on myself?
