Some insight on my choices.. was looking at the msi z77-gd55 but I saw this gigabyte one being able to oc higher and overall a better mobo.
cheap 1.35v DDR3-1600 ram, where can u go wrong xD especially when its 30$ worth of ram since i get the 14$ discount with my 7970.
was looking at the antec on sale.. but i really want a modular one so I went with this one
i was looking at an ips monitor like a http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-monitor-vs239hp, but I saw http://pcpartpicker.com/part/benq-monitor-gw2450 looked cheaper and overall better xD
mouse and keyboard looked good for my hands with cherry brown switches :]

also was trying to make it cheaper so i was thinking downgrading to a g400 there like the same as the g500 and downgrading to a 7950 since its just 1 monitor.. like a http://pcpartpicker.com/part/sapphire-v ... d-1003522l

Ah I see, this PC will strictly be for gaming + ocing, so would the pro/vector help much, I was under the imrpession that those are more for heavy duty nand like putting heavy write cycles like photo shop, or will it benefit my gaming more than the cheaper one i was planning on getting?

"Heavy duty" NAND flash would be an SLC SSD, but those don't exist anymore. Well, they do, if you don't mind paying as much per gigabyte as you would RAM. I had a post around hear earlier, but basically given fair share wear leveling, MLC based SSDs (which practically all still use) will last you over 233 years if you write 30GB per day on a 256GB part..

The usable life for a given SSD theoretically is longer than two lifetimes.

The practical usable life for an SSD is long enough that you'll be tossing the part way before it reaches midlife.

ah, I was just wondering if ssd speed mattered much in a gaming budget? i thought a faster one then the one i have (840 pro/vector) wouldn't help much unless I was more of a programmer/editor?

also I was looking at the korean crossover 27q's off ebay but I was wondering if http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009C3M7H0/?tag=pcpapi-20 would be better? i realize im paying 2x but will i notice the difference, since these are grade A monitors, not b ones like the koreans ips 27 inchers off ebay?

While the transfer speed of an SSD is nice, the real gem of it is its response time. This is why many people recommend the SSD as the system drive with storage for games a "nice to have".

The problem is that many file transfers the system makes are actually pretty small, but it tends to make a lot of them. The thing that really kills performance on any memory is making a bunch of requests (I did an experiment and posted my results at viewtopic.php?p=1315778#p1315778 ). Taking into that consideration and the fact that SSDs have basically <0.1ms response time, versus >10ms response time of a hard drive, SSDs are better suited for system drives.

If you put games on an SSD, the most it'll get you is reduced load times and less stuttering while streaming data in open world games.

Sir Kleinkinstein of Kingsville, I was wondering what the difference was between the Korean Crossover 27Q's off ebay and the ASUS IPS 27 incher. I understand the price is doubled, but am I paying for quality or just a brand name?

Well, here's what you should know about these Korean panels... at least from what I hear from other places.

• Typically they're rejects from Apple 27" displays. Apple, in their infinite anal retentive ways, want nothing more than A+++ monitors. These monitors are the A++ monitors or lower
• While you may not get a dead pixel, considering that they're less than "perfect", you have to walk in on the assumption you may get one. Thankfully the vendors have the same return policy: 1 in the middle or 5 total around the edges (there's a 3x3 grid they usually show you)
• There's usually no monitor ergonomic adjustment available aside from tilt.
• Connectivity is limited to a dual-link DVI. Not like you were going to use anything else eh?
• There's no OSD, the on screen options for adjusting the monitor. While most people probably don't touch these, if you want to make any adjustments to the color or anything else, you'll have to do it through some other means. Thankfully most video cards will have at least color adjustments for you.

So what are you really paying for? I dunno. Supposedly for better quality.

I guess as a punch to topic at hand here... As much as I want a 2560x1440 display, I don't have much use for that much real estate and I find two monitors better than one larger one for productivity. I'll take a 2560x1440 when they're available in 20" sizes
