My mothers computer won't turn on... There is a blinking green light on the back of the power-supply when i have it plugged in. When i unplug the computer it blinks slower and slower and eventually stops completely. This indicates to me that power is reaching the power supply. I am unsure of how i could test what is causing the problem. I guess it is either the motherboard or the power-supply. What should i do next to troubleshoot?

Btw the computer is some vista machine she bought at best buy about 6 years ago... I am not too sure of the hardware specs, but i could check and post here if needed.

Chances are it's the power supply. For a computer that old, that's usually the first thing to go, even if it looks okay.

LatiosXT is correct. It is most likely the power supply. If you can give us the exact make and model of this machine (or provide the exact specifications directly), we can help you troubleshoot this issue further.

Ok the computer is an HP Pavilion a6244n

Also I noticed that when i have it plugged in, the blinking green light on the back of the PSU is making a clicking noise each time it blinks. I have no idea if it always made that clicking noise or not... But i thought i would bring it up.

It's your psu, it's shot. Get this $25 unit and you'll be better than new.

Thanks for helping everyone. Will that PSU fit in the case?

PSUs are standard, the only thing you have to worry about is the length.

Which is most likely not going to be a problem unless you decide to pack 800W or more

Hey thanks again everyone. My mom didn't want to wait until one shipped to her so we went to best buy and picked one up. It was a thermaltake 430W. Seems to work great! Thanks!
I am so glad it wasn't the motherboard!
