When could we expect to see 700-series cards from nVidia, with something more powerful than the current crop of 680's and lesser "energy efficient" designs?

Rumor mill says March. Keep in mind it's still Kepler.

Originally 780 was going to reuse the GK110 and confirmed release date is after March 2013. Now it is going to be a new GPU, with a very fuzzy release date. I bet it wont be released in March, not with a brand new GPU. I am reading that as "not before Q3 2013" but sources are sketchy and I'm just a messenger. But given Nvidias track record from this year, add global recession to it, waiting for new consoles etc and early 2014 sounds rather realistic.

Well from what I heard, the 780 is going to use the GK110. Maxwell is the one that's getting pushed back until next year.

It would be bad for business anyway if they went a full year without something.

From what I'm hearing, nVidia doesn't want a small jump like we got from 480 to 580, instead they're looking for a leapfrog forward, i.e. 480 to 680 improvment or better & at current power consumption levels... Time frame wise, I'm hearing pretty much what Kleink has already said Q3 earliest, 2014 likely...

But that doesn't mean there won't be any new GPU's anytime soon, I hear that the GK110 is coming this year, but as the GTX685.
