Hello,

I'm looking to make a build for a friend.

Budget: $500 MAX, though less is better for him.

Gaming: NO.

Streaming videos from netflix/vudu/amazon.
Will access photos/vids/music from an external hard drive.
Word processing. That's all....
Monitor not needed.
Mouse/keyboard not needed.
6+usb ports in the back....

It will run basic programs, office, itunes, some low resource bill software.. thats it.

Suggestions? And many thanks for any that take the time to offer any.

Here's one that meets your budget and other requirements:

Case: Fractal Core 1000 - $40
PSU: PC Power & Cooling Silencer MK III 400W - $50 (after $20 MIR)
MOBO: ASRock B75M-DGS LGA 1155 - $55
CPU: Intel Pentium G860 - $75
RAM: G.SKILL Value Series 4GB DDR3 1333 - $20
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F4 320GB 7200RPM - $60
DVD: LITE-ON DVD-RW - $18
OS: Windows 7 OEM - $100
Total: $418

Set him up with LibreOffice and change the defaults to save as MS Office docs, and he'll be good to go.

This one doesn't have the OS so take that into account and add another $100 or so for Win8 or $80 for win7 (on sale sometimes)

Really? Because I can't think of the last time I spent money on an OS, of any kernel.

Not everyone wants to pirate or use Linux.

How shortsighted of you. I never pirate, not a single thing. To suggest, only means one thing.

They are called CAOS (Customer Appreciation OS). You don't receive any? I get a few a month. I have maybe 3 dozen w7's and exactly 14 w8's? If anyone needs, just ask.

Good for you.

You also forgot to mention where to get ISOs, because a key is useless without a lock.

What's CAOS? You get it as part of your job or something?

Yup, part of my job or something. PM me and I'll share how you can too.

@ LXT, you're losing your groove. Sad to see. Stop the thread crapping when you don't understand, can't follow the logic or some fact doesn't suit you.
