Of course a Tom nutjob would recommend Tom's! And I've got a hundy that he has a Vector in his system to boot (what a pun). Go ask him! Regardless, believe what you will since you won't notice the difference anyway.

The Vector is a sweetass ssd and it truly excels in 4K I/O which is honestly the only thing that matters for us conthusiasts. But for FTW, nothing beats Anand Shimpi for the truth and light. Not a dime of advertising or co-marketing do they receive or will they accept. Tom's is good but they are riddled with sponsorships and advertising agreements. Your call.

Ok, so now comes the point where I start finding out what kind of deals the various retailers are offering. Any ideas for how to go about that? I often check places like retailmenot.com, but wasn't sure if there was a better way for this kinda thing.

Thanks,
Loony

Get your TS-120 at Nan's. Tell Tom I sent you and he'll either ship for free or toss in a second fan...maybe both if you're lucky. And procure the Pro4-M at MC, it's $60 when you bundle the 3570k. Hella combo, $230 for both is a hella steal!

I think MicroCenter is no longer offering that bundle so I might as well get both from Newegg.

__________

I want to finally get this done, but I noticed that it seems like prices have gone up since I last checked. Since it has been several months, are there any new suggestions that would better suit this build? I did go through and select the sellers that I wanted on that list - tried to limit it to Amazon and Newegg.

If I can, I'm gonna try to get this order going this week. Thanks for your help.

The only nitpicking thing I have is the Blu-Ray burner. If you need Blu-Ray, just get a BD-ROM drive, unless for some reason you're actually burning Blu-Ray videos. Blu-Ray for data is kind of meh, since you can just get an external HDD cheaply these days.

If you need this now, go ahead. Because well... Intel announced Haswell is coming out in June 3rd.

So, I talked to someone on the Tom's Hardware forum today, and they say the Anandtech benchmarks are actually less accurate than these benchmarks that rate the OCZ Vector as the fastest SSD in "real-world scenarios". I'm not sure it matters much at this point unless there is a huge price difference.

Ha. What did you expect? Tom's folks are not gonna say Anand's results are good.

Anyway, at the current stage, unless you got a boatload of money, people only seem to use SSD for storing the most used programs. I think at the higher end of SSDs, they're all pretty similar in speed.
