:D Hi ya all Gurus of software:
Please advise me of the bestest program for cleaning the Registry.
I had PC Tools' 'registry clener' but it cleaned unnecessary keys to put me in
lot of trouble.
Thanks,

CCleaner or its competitors usually have one.

On an aside, cleaning the registry has been shown to do nothing to improve performance. So I really wouldn't worry about it.

My favorites are CCleaner, JetClean, System Ninja and both Auslogics Registry Cleaner and Auslogics Registry Defrag. All of which are freeware. I find an appreciable performance difference, but as LXT says you're mileage may vary.

I have been using Ccleaner for years and never had an issue ever! I still save the registry when the program asks me to...just in case, but never had need to revert. I always put it on a new pc when I am finished building windows into it and run it in front of the person I built the pc for. It picks up a _hit pot of dead entries when the pc has finished updating windows. I tell it to clean , save first, then clean all. The machine always runs faster booting and shutting down as well as running.

Nasty
