So here's my final build:

Case: NZXT Phantom Green ATX Full Tower Computer Case

HDD:Western Digital Black 1TB

OS Drive: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series 128GB

Graphics: GIGABYTE GV-N680OC-4GD GTX 680 4GB

PSU: Rosewill CAPSTONE Series 550W Modular

RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) 1866

MOBO: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler

DVD Burner: LITE-ON iHAS424

Sound Card: ASUS Xonar DX

Total: $1983.01

I recommend that you go with a bigger powersupply because 550watts might not be enough for your 680 and i7, if your systems at full load. Here's my recommendation http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... r-Supplies

Yeah 650 watts will suffice for your power needs, but if you ever SLI down the road you'll probably need a bigger one. I'd go with the Corsiar one you posted because that's just my brand preference since that's the kind of PSU I have.

Case: Define R4, refinement, perfection, amazing value
HDD:Barracuda 3TB, triple-up the fun for only $140
OS Drive: SAMSUNG 830 256GB, twice the space...the same realworld performance
Graphics: GIGABYTE GTX 670, you don't have enough game for a 680 and if you did you're too smart to pay so much for so little increase
PSU: Seasonic x750 or x660, $100 today for the best psu on the planet
RAM: Ares 2x8 1600, you need nothing more...until ddr4 anyway
MOBO: UD5H, no better price:performance:I/O anywhere from anyone
CPU: 3570K, if you're like 95% of the market you don't need HT
CPU Cooler: 212 EVO @ $30 is the performance deal of the century
DVD Burner: According to MPC we don't need one any longer :roll:
Sound Card: HT Omega, trust me..just trust me

You can do the final math.

How are you going to install the OS? :P

I mean, I guess you could make a bootable USB key, if you're so inclined.

how would you get the OS off the DVD and on to the usb without a dvd reader :shock:

obvious but some people do not have a second machine with a dvd in it since we now do not need one there isn't one in the second machine. even in the instructions that mpc gives for installing from a usb, one of them is place the disk in the drive and copy etc.

so we still need a dvd somewhere along the line. could we convince nuculearsoft to put their os on a usb from the get go.

I believe you can download ISOs from Microsoft too, for free. After all the price of the OS is for the license to use it, not the 0's and 1's. Which doesn't help if you don't have a CD key to go with it though.
