Hi guys
I'm a bit of a computer hardware noob so would appreciate any help

I currently run an Intel i5 650 3.2ghz + radeon 6870 stuffed basically into a stock bought budget pc
I'm looking to upgrade so can run games smoothly on full settings (or near enough) such as counter strike global offensive and BF .etc

Basically are either of those components re-useable? im fairly sure its the cpu letting it down or is the gfx card naff too?

What components could you recommend to meet my needs?
Rough budget is
Coolermaster case? (£50)
RAM (£40)
Some sort of cooling kit (£25)
Motherboard (£80)
CPU (£150-200)
GPU IF NEEDED (up to £200 MAX)
Obviously they're only rough estimates but i'd like to keep the budget as near to £500 as possible

i already have a 650w corsair psu would that be okay?

These are the main items needed right? i have a cd drive and SATA HD i can use (or is it really worth investing in solid state?)

I'd be very appreciative of any help

Thanks guys

Dan

What resolution do you run? I ask because none of that is really bad. The Clarksdale at 3.2Ghz isn't a slouch, a 6870 should drive a 24" screen or below just fine, and maybe you're just pegging the memory...but I can't tell from here. Just for reference, I use a little iTX to CS and BF w/ an i3, a lowly (literally) 6670, and a 22" screen quite a bit. Are you really seeing frame rate drops or just have the upgrade bug?

Only 1280x1024 on an old 19" samsung syncmaster 940
i've just realised its the 6850 i have not the 70

what is pegging the memory exactly?
I dont really get frame rate drops its more like a splitting with any motion making it look juddery and lose it's sharpness

I probably am over-exaggerating the problem as an upgrade would be nice
