I need to buy a new laptop very badly. I need good multitasking, good DVD/Blu-Ray performance (can sacrifice Blu-Ray if necessary). Basically I need to be able to watch & interact with live streams using an IRC client and would like excellent YouTube/DVD performance. Gaming is not really my goal with this machine, so it is not necessary. Does anyone have a good recommendation for me??

Thanks in advance. :)

EDIT: I would like the best performance, multitasking, and video quality from a sub-$2000 machine... hopefully less than that though. I would appreciate your input.

The Sager NP9150 should be on your short list. Sure gaming is a minority use case for you, but the specs and performance @ $1500 can't be beat. Aesthetically it's also a business quality machine, not like those goofy Aliens and the like. It's Lenovo'like. Right now they are discounting $100 too.

What's funny is the Sager looks exactly like this AVA Direct laptop. Maybe it's the same company or a rebadging?

I really don't know much about laptops, so I'm actually chiming in with more of a question than an answer. I thought Lenovo was pretty solid no? The W Thinkpad series looks kinda nice:
