Hey guys I'm in the market to replace my current 24" LCD with something a little bigger & nicer. I know many of you are really educated on this stuff & hope you could give me a good recommendation. I'm an amateur Photographer & pretty avid PC Gamer so color & refresh are important. Not really even sure refresh is even an issue these days..lol.

Current one I'm looking at: Dell U2713

This one is REALLY expensive. If someone could suggest one that is less expensive great quality & color calibrated I'd totally be happy. Thank you =)

Unfortunately, there ain't a whole lot of pickings that are cheap and good beyond 24". If it's cheap, it's probably going to be a 1080p panel, at best you're buying an HDTV. Your only saving grace here that's cheap at 27" and is "professional grade" is a Yamakasi Catleap. However, I would not recommend this to anyone. It's barely considered a computer monitor, as all it is is an LCD panel, a DVI input, a power button and cable, and a housing. You have no OSD controls for calibration or anything else and no support.

But hey, if you want to, they go for like $350.

Take a whiff of some smelling salts, you're not going to find champagne for a Bud Light 6-pack price. You don't have the coin for a real top drawer 24"+ IPS panel. Start saving now for the U3011. Karma is good that it'll be 800 bones on Black Friday. Skip the 27" day dreams and budget yourself for a real upgrade, a big boy 2560x1600 panel or stay within the family and go dual panels with a pair of 24'inchers.

Yea, I'm starting to lean towards a 24" IPS or high end monitor now.

Any thoughts on a really nice 24" IPS or LED monitor?

Two very different animals. Impossible to recommend. What do you use your panel for?

Because I'm a bit biased towards them, the Dell U2412M. But I'd shop around for some other panels with an eIPS panel, as it's the only type that you get some of the benefits of p-IPS without the price tag.

The Dell IPS panels do kick serious ass! If it was my money, I'd look no further.

Gaming, surfing, & movies do not require an IPS panel, sure they're nice to have, but there's absolutely no reason you can't go with a cheap 27" TN panel.

Thanks for that Dell U2412M suggestion I think I'm going to get it. Not sure how much "better" it will be to my 4 year old 24" Asus LCD? But the reviews are rock solid on that panel & the price point is fair. Thanks!! :)
