I cannot for the life me get this thing to do anything. When I plug the AC adapter into the wall, the light on the PSU light is solid. When I plug the PSU into the laptop, the light on the laptop that indicates that the laptop is charging begins to flash, and the light on the PSU begins to flash as well. When I unplug the PSU from the laptop, the charging light stops flashing, and the PSU light becomes solid again.

Trying to power on the system in any configuration results in nothing. No lights, no fans spinning up, nothing. With the battery removed it is the same deal. After 30 minutes of searching for a similar problem, I've found nothing thought I'd ask what you guys here thought was wrong.

I have seen Compaq laptops that have faulty AC adapters before. You might try this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/65W-AC-Adapter- ... v4exp=true. On the other hand, I have heard of HP laptops having power harness issues as well. Is this laptop still under warranty?

This laptop has been far out of warranty. I doubt the person I'm fixing this for wants to spend any money on it either. I guess I'll just put it back together and ship it back.

I am sorry to hear that and wish I could have been more help, but this really sounds like an issue with either a faulty adapter or power harness.

What is the measured voltage output of the adapter?

Does the adapter get hot?

Is the adapter loose where it connects to the laptop?

And yet they were willing to spend money to ship a laptop to you.
