Welcome to the forums and good luck with your build!

Quote:
MotherBoard: BIOSTAR TZ77B LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
CPU: Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E 3.6GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 2011 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor

The 3820 is designed to go with a socket 2011 motherboard; the motherboard you selected is a socket 1155 so the two are not compatible. That means you need to select a 2011 motherboard...OR a change the CPU to match the motherboard. Personally, I would change the CPU so here are a few suggestions:
i7 2600K is a Sandy Bridge chip which is one generation old. This is an incredible, and iconic, CPU
i7 3570K is an Ivy Bridge chip (which is the newest generation). It's a highly capable CPU, but unlike the 2600K, this one does not have Hyperthreading, thus it's priced a little bit lower. But don't let the lack of HT deter you form considering this CPU.
i7 3770K is also an Ivy Bridge CPU and considered the replacement to the 2600K.

Aside form this, the only other thing I noticed is the case only has USB 2.0 on the front panel. Nothing is wrong with this, but it is a sign of an older case. You may want to consider the NZXT Tempest 210. I actually bought one of these for myself.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help, I'm going to take your advice and get the updated case with a 2600k.

Get ivy bridge (3570 or 3770). Your getting a Z77 board so get ivy bridge so you can fully utilize all features on the z77 board (such as true USB 3.0)

Agreed. Now ditch the BioStar and trod over to MicroCenter...they have the Asus Sabertooth for $190 this month. A real deal for one of the very best Z77 mobo's.
