Hi guys! I have been a long time AVG fan (or, more recently, user. Its gotten kinda bloated.) However, being a newly admitted UW-Madison student, I can get free copies of Symantec Endpoint Security. I was wondering if anyone had personal experience with both products and could help me decide whether I should stick with AVG for move to Endpoint Security. Right now, I'm leaning toward Symantec because it has a firewall and I've heard that Madison's LAN is a scary place to be. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Blah to SES! It's commercial-ware. And you are so right with the heft and mass of AVG. Turn to Avira.

If you're considering a "commercial" endpoint security, there are many 3rd party tests on performance and effectiveness that you can reference. I work with Symantec and we've collected several on this page: http://www.symantec.com/theme.jsp?theme ... -challenge

Thanks for the suggestion. Any particular complaints about SES?

Mainly two, it requires way too much real estate and it's a sloth - a real resource hog. It's not for the faint of heart or the machine without some cpu chops and memory muscle. But since you can score a free copy from Badger Central, try it and find out for yourself. You can always go back to Avira, AVG, Avast or the other capable freebies.

"This software is provided as freeware for only personal use. In this case, you are granted the right to use this program free of charge. Otherwise, you need to pay for a license for commercial use. "

Right there on the first page where its easy to find.
