This is what I have so far. No video card or power supply yet. The main types of games this will be used for is SWTOR and such. It will also be for watching blu ray and surfing the internet. Maybe some light office work as well. This came out a little more that what I was hoping for. On a day off I will usually game for about 8 hours or watch movies for the same length of time. Where can I trim some items and what are my best options for a video card? The reason I picked that case is due to the cooling properties. It will be hooked up to my 52" 1080i HD tv per HDMI. It will also need to be able to hook up to mr receiver for 5.1 sound.

A 32GB SSD is too small to use as a system drive, unless you're really sparse with what you install with Windows.

There's no benefit with going to Windows 7 Professional over Home Premium, unless you absolutely need Windows XP Mode and remote desktop

For a video card, a midrange one like a GTX 560 Ti or a HD 7850 will do.

I also have a feeling you can get a case that can cool as good and remain quiet for less... But I can't think of any off the top of my head.

And of course if he want's to stuff more than 16GB of memory in those slots. Nothing screams power user more than packing 192GB with Win7 Pro on an HTPC.

I would get that if you are going for the whole square PC thing. That case also fits up to a gtx 690 with room to spare.

I should have been more clear on the ssd. It will be an OS drive only. The main reason I was getting pro. was for office. That's about it. I was thinking of watercooling my cpu for the air to handle the hdd, ssd, gpu, and memory.

Professional doesn't come with Microsoft Office (just covering my bases...), nor does it help with any office work in anyway unless you need those features.

You also don't need watercooling unless you're doing heavy overclocking.

My last remaining concern is what will it look like on my tv? Will the picture be clean and take up my screen? I guess my problem is that I worry about the resolution and such.

HDTVs are PC monitors with a built in tuner.

Any suggestions on a mid-range video card for an HTPC (3D-capable, preferably) that is also on the quiet side? Looking quickly at a bunch of Newegg reviews, it seems like acoustics go out the window once a game is loaded.

Are there exceptions to that, or do I have to drop down a video card class?

Well, if you drop down a video card class, you won't get 3D support (it requires the video card to render double the frames). Just get an aftermarket cooler that takes up two slots.
