Professional overclocker HiCookie employed liquid nitrogen cooling to push an Intel Ivy Bridge Core i7 3770K processor to 7.03 GHz, breaking the previous world record. In addition, he managed to push four DIMMs of G.Skill Trident X DDR3 memory to an amazing 3.28 GHz! For a bit of perspective, only a few years ago, we were running 800 MHz memory and this overclocked RAM is currently running faster than an i7 860 processor.

The PR is here.

That's a slightly confusing read. It's tough to say if that means it's the highest record for HWbot or for Gigabyte or for Ivy Bridge or for some combination of the above. I guess I'll have to read the link in the article and see if there's more info.

AMD still has the Guinness record (Aug 31, 2011):
http://blogs.amd.com/play/2011/09/09/guinness/
"On August 31, an AMD FX processor achieved a frequency of 8.429GHz, a stunning result for a modern, multi-core processor."

Too bad that overclocked AMD is not compute as fast as the slower overclocked Ivy Bridge.
