Hey everyone, that reads this.
My question is what is the ideal number of antivirus a laptop should have.

My laptop has Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010 installed when I first got it. Best Buy had installed it.
And I just installed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, mostly because I have this installed in my desktop and its really good.

Im just pretty much wondering if those two are ok.

Only one antivirus at a time, and as many anti-malware and anti-spyware as you want. Malwarebytes is an anti-malware program.

The ideal number of anti-virus programs is zero. Meaning you don't need any. Unfortunately that isn't REALISTIC.
You mean to ask what is a good realistic number of programs.
My list includes MSE, Avira, SAS, Malware bytes and one or two more. Not all on one computer, spread over five compters.

Two normal AV programs will usually conflict, while anti-spyware programs don't.

I use Norton 360 that's running real time and I use Anti-Malware which i run manually as a scan.

Which anti malware program? There's one by Norton, one by Trend Micro, one by Malwarebytes, etc.

Only one antivirus program should be installed IMHO, besides all anti virus program are too much resource intensive and you will merely be cluttering up your PC, though in your case, Malwarebytes installation is just fine as said earlier, it eliminates malwares that can be neglected by some anti virus software.

Only one antivirus. More then 1 can conflict and cause problems. It's fine to use 1 antivirus, 1 spyware and 1 malware application. Most of the spyware and malware applications that are free need to be executed manually and if you purchase them they run real time.

Anyway, it's actually better to go with 1 Antivirus, More than one Antispyware, and more than one antimalware program. Antispyware and anti-malware programs don't conflict like anti-virus programs do.
For example, my setup is:
AVG Free edition, for antivirus
Superantispyware and Webroot anti-spyware for antispyware protection (and in the case of Superantispyware, anti-malware too)
HijackThis and Malwarebytes for anti-malware

I also have a CD of other command-line and bootable security software, for when these tools just aren't enough (not too often, but it never hurts to have it ready; besides, when family members who don't secure their systems call me, I can take care of their system fast.)

I agree that just one anti virus should be enough but I have 2 installed in my pcs because somebody commented to me that is better to have several just in case any company's antivirus database is not updated. In that moment made sense, so I did.

The number of protection suites that should be installed on a Windows machine is one. A person who chooses to install more is not lowering their risk of infection. It is likely that the two or more of them will conflict with one another. This in turn opens the doors for malicious software to get in. Not even the best suites offer complete protection however. User awareness is yet another important element to prevent the entry of unwanted software. Keep a note that key loggers and others take rides with innocent looking third-party programs. There is no guarantee it would be caught before it has sent off your bank account log-in information. The fact is the best protection barrier for your computer is you first.
