I am looking for build a new gaming pc for the first time since 2006 and looking for some suggestions/help on what to buy.
I want to spend about $1000 (I know it's hard to build a GOOD gaming pc with only $1000 - which is why I am posting here
to get some help). I need/want to get a case, motherboard, CPU, graphics card, ram, power supply, HDD, and
possibly a SSD along with a HDD.

I am currently only playing Diablo 3. I will probably play CS:GO when it comes out.

I would appreciate any help and thanks in advance!

The spread I'm seeing is about:
$250 for CPU. Probably an Ivy Bridge Core i5. You could score a Sandy Bridge Core i5-2500 (no K) for about $200. Don't get a K processor if you don't have plans to overclock.
$250 the GPU. This would net you a Radeon HD7850 at the highest, though a GeForce GTX 560 Ti works just fine. Since you're gaming, any money you save somewhere else should be spent here.
$120-$150 for the motherboard. If you're getting an Ivy Bridge based CPU, go with a Z77 chipset. If you're getting Sandy Bridge, get a Z68 chipset.
$50 for RAM. This should get you 8GB DDR3-1600 RAM
$50-$75 for PSU. You'll want a nice 600W PSU.
$100 for HDD. I think the prices dropped to the point where this'll be at least 1TB.

Leaves you $125 at worst for a case, which you can score a decent NZXT or Antec case.

If you're interested in SSDs, a 60GB one runs for about $80-$100 for a decent model.

I think what Latios says are pretty good estimations for a gaming pc.
