Maximum PC

I need to find a good laptop but I'm not really sure what to get. I want to stay around the $1,000 price range but I can go over that a little.

Some games I would like to play include:

The Sims 3
Civilization 5
shogun 2 total war

Any suggestions? what do you guys have and what games do you play?

I don't buy a laptop to play games. I do keep it secondary though, but if I'm going to play a game on my laptop, it's usually something light. But in case you're wondering what I do use, it's a Dell XPS 15z.

In any case, I hope you don't mind that, at least for Civ5 and Total War, you're not going to get acceptable performance until you drop the detail to medium and the resolution to 720p.

I would get a desktop but unfortunately I'm going away to college and I don't think a desktop will be an option (I need the mobility of a laptop). I did take a look at this laptop before and I think this might be my best choice at the moment.
