Maximum PC

Hello, I've googled this issue but the solutions weren't working for me, so I will try my search on here.

I don't know what happened, but all of sudden my computer wont boot into my OS.
This is what happens when I press the power button.

Blinks for a 1 sec and..

Then monitor blacks out.

The pc tower still runs like nothing is wrong. There are no debugging beeps.

Here are the steps I tried:
I switched the ram in and out. Took my vga card out and placed it back in. Did a CMOS/BIOS reset. Unplugged cd drive(s) and other peripherals (usb, firewire, etc). Unplugged the power chord, held the power button for 30-60 secs and powered on.

Still, nothing is working. And I don't think anything is wrong with the VGA, PSU, RAM, CPU, MONITOR. But if you think either of them are, then do explain.

From the post screen, the pc black screens because it cannot find a hard drive to boot.

Try booting to a "live Linux cd". If it boots to it, then you know your hard drive is toast.

Do not install Linux, choose the option to "run" it.

You can try to unplug and re-plug the ide cable on the Hard Drive both ends, sometimes that will do it.

I haven't tried linux or ubuntu, but I don't think there is any need because, I've switched the hard drive with another one (preloaded with W7) and it still does that.

I've also unplugged the IDE cable and that didn't work either.

I'm thinking something maybe wrong with the motherboard. I will try plugging the hard drive into my 2nd computer to see if that boots it.

Look at the motherboard for busted caps:

Have any of the above? If yes, you need to replace the motherboard.
