Hey guys I have a Western Digital WD3200BEVT - 75ZCTO 2.5" hard drive. It was working fine for a long time then ever since i hooked it to a Mac computer it stopped working properly. I used the hard drive in a NexStar CX 2.5" enclosure for a long time and it was working fine until I plugged into mac. Then everytime after that, I would plug into one of my pc's and would not be detected. I would hear the Windows 7 plug in sound on my Samsung, but the hard drive doesn't show up. I also tried it on my netbook which had windows xp, and it would show up in the hardware list but i couldn't access the hard drive. I tried using Peppermint linux to see if i could access it with that but still no luck. I used another hard drive in the NexStar CX now and it works fine but I would like to know if there's a way to fix my WD.

Have you tried to run WDs setup utility on the drive and use it to fix the master boot record? This may fix the drive and it may kill the data on it while doing so....don't know unless you try it.

I would try Disk Management also because the hard drive's setting could have altered when you inserted it into the Mac.

I think the electronic board may be gone. It is a hope to recover the data but be ready to pay for this...

Does the drive show up in the bios when you plug it into the motherboard? If it does the WD software should be able to fix it....if the data is there afterwards...I don't know.

I tried the disk management utility but the hard drive does not show in it, but it appears in the device manager as a usb hard drive. I checked it's properties and I clicked populate but it gave me a message saying that i couldn't do it because it was 1394 or not hooked physically to the motherboard. I'm guessin i have to i find a computer to put it in unless i have to plug it back into the mac maybe.

I am problem too with my SATA SeaGate 250 gb hard drive. I detected some errors on it, so I ran chkdsk. In the middle of chkdsk it froze. When I did a hard reboot, it just freezes after detecting hard drive.

Run Seagate's diagnostic tool on the drive, use the 90 second option first then the long option if the short indicates a problem. Get the software from Seagate's site, it is free.
