Hey all, quick question...

Just the other day I bought a pretty nice pre-built (yeah I was feeling lazy so I bought a pre-built this time). This is what I got (I added a SSD to it too).

Anyways, I have this sound card from my old PC. Right now my fancy new PC is using on-board sound.

My question is - do you think I should use my old sound card in the new PC, get a new sound card (if so please make recommendations), or stick with the on-board?

Thanks and looking forward to your replies!!!!

I've had no end to troubles on the X-Fi card when I moved to Windows 7, so unless you really need EAX, keep the on-board sound.

They do have beta driver support for Windows 7 now. Otherwise I would transplant the card. Hate leaving things around that could be used.

I had Window 7 on the PC I just replaced and it worked fine.

Really what I want to know, being I don't know much about Sound Cards, assuming all works well... is it worth using?

On one hand I would think yes because it could help take some of the load off the processor. On the other hand, it's a bit of an older card, so could it actually slow things down?

Audio processing on current CPU's isn't even worth mentioning. They don't tax the CPU at all. But personally, I enjoy the Creative solution a lot better. Everything sounds better and that really is the end result for a soundcard.
