Looking for a software that can identify all the hardware and search for the latest drivers for PC and laptop. Does it exist? :)

This... I dunno, I did a Google search and this came up.

Honestly though, you never really have to worry about driver updates unless it's the video card. Everything else tends to stay the same. And even then, there was probably a fix to update something minor.

Well I am trying to look for the latest driver for my wi-fi device on my Acer Aspire 4830TG laptop because I sometimes have trouble connecting to my campus's Wi-fi. I had seen others connecting to it without any trouble on their laptop.

Go to Acer's website then. If you already have up to date drivers, then this is just a problem with the network.

Do not use this type of software, it will screw up your system. Don't be so lazy, download and install the newest drivers yourself. That way it is done right by uninstalling the old driver first, then installing the new driver and not just write the new driver over the old...leaving in place old registry entries to confuse the operating system.

What about SiSoftware Sandra?
I am trying to find the drivers of the hardware from their manufacturer's sites other than the official Acer site.

Sometimes ACER and the rest of the OEM's modify or write their own drivers for the hardware on their machines. Just because you go to the manufactures site of video chip, sound chip, nic, ectra doesn't mean the hardware ACER uses wasn't modified to their specs, so the manufactures driver may not work. If you have a separate video card plugged into the motherboard Nvidia or AMD may have a "Mobile" version of the driver that will work. The only way to know that the machine will work as advertised is use their drivers off the laptops site.

To hell with Driver Detective--that program is more trouble than it is worth. I tried this program nearly three years ago: http://download.cnet.com/PC-Updater/300 ... 14352.html and it solved a couple of driver issues for me that I was having with an XFX motherboard as the 64-bit drivers were not complete on the motherboard's accompanying CD. My experience was a mixed bag because it did solve my driver issues, but somehow got corrupted during an update to the program itself, and the technical support for it (which I was entitled to because I was asked to pay $29.95 for the program to update my drivers after it completed its "free scan") sucked--they would not provide me the 16-character license key that the software was requesting when I went to uninstall/reinstall the program after it was corrupted. They simply referred me to the 15-character unlock key that I was provided via email after purchasing the program. When they were going to automatically renew my subscription nearly a year later for a jacked-up price of $59.95, I contacted them and cancelled the subscription after telling them that both their software and their technical support were worthless. Stay away from this and other "automatic driver update" programs. Stay with the drivers supported and provided by Acer.

If you use Windows to update the driver, this works sometimes and has gotten me out of tight spots before. Go to Device manager, right click on the device you want to update and follow the prompts and when it asks for how you want to do it, choose update over the internet. If it finds a new driver it will ask to install it before it does. Do not do this with the video driver or it will get a corrupt install and muck things up. Do it the old fashioned way, uninstall the video driver before installing the new driver. I would do the same for the sound driver.
