Hello guys im going to configure and purchase a p270wm. It will be my first seriously nice Piece of hardware i didnt buy discounted and have gotten for myself with some sort of signifigant price tag.

As such im very weary about what i put into my new build. Im worried about choosing the

750gb Hybrid XT seagate drive. I've read from reviews and been informed of their STELLAR failure rate on new egg and I have searched on this website seeing only 2 pages but some talk of it failing also.

I have seen benchmarks and boot times videos of bootimes and thats enough to impress me honestly.

Would it be safe to use it as the Main drive for my OS? i want to have a ssd as secondary drive for a few select programs.

or should i just forgo the drive altogether get a normal 750gb HD. and a seperate SSD? Id be using this laptop HEAVILY. alot of writing files, editing etc.

Put your OS on the SSD, and data on any regular hard drive. It doesn't make sense not to use the SSD as a boot drive. Just remember to move the pagefile to the data drive and disable hibernate (there is a microsoft fixit that will do it for you) or else you may end up with 2 10-15gb files on your SSD.

i dont care about booting up in 10 seconds, i care about using the ssd for programs that i will need the speed for my whole os on it will take up too much space, im more than likely not gonna turn my pc off much at all. the unreliability of ssds make me choose not to use it as my main drive.

my concern is the failure rate of the hybrid xt and wether or not its a good choice as my main drive.
