How can I find out what components are in my pc without ripping it open?
All I want is a simple listing:
MB - brand, model, version, bios version
CPU - name model speed
mem - same as cpu
Video card same as cpu
other cards.
Drivers to units not always connected, printer, camera, scanners, etc
Virtual cd/dvd/bd drives, Vhd's
all the things that windows upgrades mights cough at.

more:
floppy disk?
ODD?
PSU? doubtful
additional usb access points, front, back jack and what currently might be connected, etc

There must be a program that can find these things, and save them simply as a txt file for something that I can easily post online in a forum?
OH, looking for free......

thanks

If you're using Windows, use the device manager and CPU-Z/GPU-Z.

Use Speccy. It'll give you the run down on your system entirely.

Speccy is good but there is a free version of a piece of software called SIW it will tell you just about everything there is to know about your computer.

As long as it's, you know, legal.

It's still available. The portable version has been discontinued, but there's a free for personal use version for installing on home systems.

SIW website (scroll toward the bottom at the link):
