I also have this thing called school, and another thing called a job that keep me from spending too much time on this, so I just grabbed Crunchbang!, which has all the drivers.

I actually don't need to work with VIM or EMACS yet. For programming, I just use N++ or the main Arduino IDE.
When I'm actually writing things, Abiword or MSword or Libreoffice do things just fine.
I figure, if it ain't broke (cringing at the grammar) don't fix it.

Sorry to bump a month old thread, but basically I'm looking to just surf the Internet with the computer. Bootable is fine, for I could use a USB stick to store anything I wanted.

You could try DSL. On my netbook I had Lubuntu 11.10 I believe running on it. Was not too shabby at all, then I got persuaded into installing 7 on it... I might give Debian a try next.

BTW it would have been better if you just started a new thread instead of bringing this one back...

saw a review where slitaz was supposed to be really good, loaded it on an old p2 machine and it was perfectly usable for office, email and Internet.
