I'm looking for a new monitor and got recommended one of these two, but I can't seem to decide because there aren't any computer stores near me that carry them and I can't see them in action side by side.

It's between http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm ... html?dnr=1 and http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/prod ... redirect=1

Any help is appreciated. Now I had heard the HP was almost incompatible with AMD cards for whatever reason (HP said they were releasing a driver update to fix it) but I'm unsure of that. Thanks in advance.

I say the UltraSharp for the sheer amount of options you get. And it looks like the HP can't do pivoting or whatnot (but I don't know, I haven't looked into it).

If by "pivot" you mean portrait mode, the HP does that. It also has "8 way comfort for height, tilt, swivel and pivot", whatever all those amount to. My current monitor barely moves XD

An IPS monitor will normally show ghosting to some degree. Are you using this monitor for color accuracy? Between the two, the Dell Ultrasharp is the one I would choose. Use a TN panel for gaming.

I would wait for the u2712 to come out in the next few months. And I'm not a fan of HP, although it is LED backlit which I am actually a little hesitant about because I know Dell didn't go with LED because there were issues with it at the time with the better 8-bit IPS panels.
