Every year people throw out their old computers with everything in it. Little do they know that what is inside could be good as gold to a thief. Encrypting, overwriting and literally shredding your HDDs are a few measures you can take to protect yourself against identity thieves. Your Windows user password does not count. Those knowledgeable can easily bypass all Windows security features such as technicians and or government agencies. Why is this in Appraisals, Deals and Bargains? Some are probably considering donating, trading, selling or even disposing their old computer system/s. As a professional I felt it was necessary to warn those unknowing of the dangers of not correctly disposing of old data. A common sense answer really.
