Maximum PC

I have a single band linksys E-1200 router and I need to buy a USB wireless adapter to replace a failed internal adapter on a laptop. Are there any advantages or disadvantages to getting a dual band for the laptop? Should I stick with linksys or will any brand work seemlessly with my router? Is there an advantage to 300 mbs over 150 with my admittedly low end router? Finally, any recommendations would be great. I'm looking under $30.00. Would anything with 5 "eggs" work? Thanks,

Dual band will work fine.

The Newegg review system is shot. People will either post scathing reviews when the problem actually exists between keyboard and chair, or they will give a good reason why not to buy and give a 5-egg rating.

Any brand will work, but stay away from the Airlink 101 and the non-business-class Buffalo products. Linksys (aka Cisco) has some good adapters, as does Asus. Netgear takes up the middle ground quality wise.

I can tell you what brand NOT to buy, but not what adapter to buy. I just don't have the experience there.
